WHO 2026: Meet the CA team and prepared motions
Winter Holidays Open 2026 is getting closer and closer - and we are finally able to share the prepared motions of the tournament!
After a few days of online voting, the debate community has chosen the prepared motions for this year's Winter Holidays Open!
Prepared motion 1: This House supports reintroducing mandatory military service across Europe.
Prepared motion 2: This House would hold social media platforms financially liable for algorithmic radicalization leading to violence, e.g. political.
Semi-finals and Grand finals: This House believes that Europe should pursue full strategic autonomy from the United States.
The registration deadline has been extended until 30th of October, therefore you still have time to register your teams! Make sure to do so especially if you are keen of this motions - Croatian Debate Society will be more than happy to host you in the city of Zagreb ❄
Of course, these were the motions that were chosen out of 8 proposed by this year's CAP team. We also finally have the pleasure to annouce the team crafting the motions: Geetha Creffield, Matej Mesić and our very own Dora Smilevska.
Geetha Creffield is a theatre director and Head of Arts at Anglo Chinese Junior College, Singapore. She believes passionately in freeing the voice of young people and uses pedagogy and methodology to develop strategies for performance particularly for young people. She is also the thrice-winning World Schools’ Debating Championship coach of Team Singapore!
Dora Smilevska, apart from working as a Project Officer and Event Support Officer at IDEA, is one of the front faces of Macedonian debate. Apart from organizing EuroSDC 2026 in Skopje and convening two editions of Skopje Open and many more national tournaments, you will probably meet her working (inter)nationally with young people.
Matej has been in debate for ten years, mostly as a debater, alongside judging and running his own debate club. In that time he has competed in and judged at a long list of international tournaments, so there isn't much left in a round that can surprise him (but feel free to try). He holds a degree in theoretical mathematics and now works as a game mathematician, so expect him to follow your logic closely.
