PEACE Event in Amsterdam

PEACE Event in Amsterdam

On 25th of July 2026, around 30 energetic young people gathered together in Amsterdam for an event exploring the relationship between digital media, well-being, and mental health.

The event aimed to encourage young people to reflect on how social media and digital environments influence their everyday lives, self-image, relationships, and mental well-being. Through interactive activities, group discussions, and critical analysis of everyday scenarios, we explored both the opportunities and challenges that come with growing up in an increasingly digital world.

Working in groups, we examined topics such as the pressure to present an idealised version of themselves online, the impact of online comparison on self-esteem, and the role of social media in shaping perceptions of success, belonging, and personal identity. They also discussed how to recognise potentially harmful online habits, distinguish reliable information from misleading content, and establish healthier boundaries when using digital platforms.

The activities encouraged everyone to exchange experiences, question common assumptions, and consider practical strategies for maintaining a healthier relationship with technology. By looking at different perspectives and analysing realistic situations, they explored how young people can support their own digital well-being while contributing to a more positive and supportive online environment.

The event provided a space for all present young people to learn from one another, develop their critical thinking skills, and reflect on the importance of taking care of their mental health both online and offline. Through open dialogue and collaborative learning, we encouraged other young people to become more aware of their digital habits and more confident in making informed choices about their well-being.
