More than 600 students from all over the world meet digitally at Ljutomer Debate Tournament

170 teams will square off in an online debate tournament in the Worlds Schools Debate Format for high school students from all over the world. The event is held from 11 - 16 March 2022. The tournament is organised by IDEA member Za im Proti.

With three exciting prepared topics and some more to be announced, it is promising to shape up to be an unforgettable experience.

The prepared topics are:

📍THBT the feminist movement should support female vigilante groups (eg. The Red Brigade and Gulabi Gang in India, Grupo de Auto Defensas in Mexico)

📍THBT the EU should restrict the free movement of highly skilled workers between its member states

📍In highly multiethnic states, THP the use of devolved government as opposed to centralized government.

📍Info slide: Devolution is the transfer of power from a central government to subnational (eg. state, regional or local) authorities. The devolved territories have the power to make legislation relevant to the area and thus granting them a higher level of autonomy; this includes areas such as healthcare, law enforcement, education etc.

Students are present from the following 46 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dubai, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Zimbabwe.
