IDEA Debate Exchange is an event for debate organisation staffers, volunteers and coaches interested in supporting and developing their local debate programmes in the long term. All participants must be at least 18 years old by the event's start (August 28th).

The event is co-funded by the European Union and is open to residents of the EU, North Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia, Norway, Iceland, Ukraine, Albania and Liechtenstein.

This event will focus on exchanging debate practices, innovations, capacity building, and general networking. The event will feature workshops on fundraising options, grant application writing, project management, capacity building, and event and activity organisation, as well as those focusing on non-formal teaching skills, key debate concepts, and debate club management. Additional workshops offered by participating IDEA member representatives will cover many relevant topics, ranging from tabbing debate tournaments and lesson planning to collaborative debate and peer-to-peer learning through assisted teamwork. Debate Exchange also uses the open space format, with event participants suggesting and taking up different topics for discussions during the event.

Prospective participants need to register by August 14th. Registrations by participants from countries with active IDEA member organisations will be cross-checked with the relevant member organisation. IDEA will notify selected participants as soon as possible.

Participation at the event is fully funded and includes full board hotel accommodation and workshop participation. Participants can offer to deliver a workshop at the event.
