Empowering Youthwork for the Green Debate: Polish Children’s Day Event
On the occasion of Polish Children’s Day, our member organisation Polska Debatuje organized a special event at the 4th Community High School (IV Społeczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące) in Warsaw. The celebration highlighted the goals of the Erasmus+ project Empowering Youthwork for the Green Debate by engaging young people directly with pressing ecological challenges through debate.
Debating Climate Responsibility
The event brought together 70 students, offering them the opportunity to sharpen their debating and argumentation skills while addressing some of the most complex questions in global climate politics. Students explored motions such as:
-
Should eco-terrorism be supported?
-
Do developing countries have an obligation to comply with international climate agreements?
-
Should governments sign offtake agreements with emerging producers of green energy and sustainable technologies?
These debates challenged participants to think critically about ethical dilemmas, global equity, and the future of sustainable development, encouraging them to consider different perspectives and real-world implications.

Building Skills for a Sustainable Future
Beyond the competitive element, the event embodied the project’s mission: to use debate as a tool for youth empowerment, climate literacy, and critical thinking. By confronting difficult questions, students deepened their understanding of environmental issues while developing the skills to become active, informed, and responsible citizens.

Thanks to the Community
We extend our sincere thanks to all the participants, coaches, and organizers for making this event a success. Their commitment to fostering high-level discourse reflects the spirit of the Empowering Youthwork for the Green Debate project: preparing the next generation to lead the conversations and decisions that will shape a more sustainable future.
