Debate Methodology in Youth Work: Summer Activity in Orahovica!

Over the course of four working days, participants from ARDOR and HDD had the opportunity to share their experiences, exchange approaches to debate education, and explore the challenges and opportunities of running debate clubs in rural communities. Part of the programme took place at HDD’s annual summer debate camp, where participants could put their knowledge into practice and engage directly with young debaters through practicing debate.

Throughout the activity, participants also designed and delivered their own workshops, covering topics such as law and human rights in debate, national security and crowd psychology, persuasion and framing, public speaking, and strategic worldbuilding.

The activity also resulted in the development of a practical handbook on organising summer debate camps. The handbook will bring together experiences and practical guidance on programme design, methodology, facilitation, logistics, evaluation, and follow-up, providing a useful resource for future organisers. This handbook will be timely shared with all members and everyone interested in the topic.

The activity was implemented as part of HDD’s Erasmus+ Youth accreditation, in partnership with ARDOR.
