As the scope of our work grows we are looking for full time and part time staff in administrative, organisational and fundraising positions

The International Debate Education Association is seeking experienced individuals to join our team. We offer you the opportunity to lead implementation of impactful projects and events that align with IDEA's mission.

Location: Utrecht / Remote

Start Date: Q2 2024
 

Contract Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administering and implementing project activities and events, both organized by idea or in collaboration with partners.
  • Organizing IDEA events, ensuring they are executed smoothly and meet organizational objectives.
  • Support to IDEA members organizing events.
  • On-site event management including travel to destination
  • Creating comprehensive reports on events and projects to assess impact and inform future planning.
  • Actively promoting IDEA and its various activities
  • Providing support to ensure the seamless functioning of IDEA, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork in a dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in project management, event organization, and fundraising.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and G-suite environment.
  • Excellent command of English language
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong commitment to IDEA's mission and values.
  • Legal eligibility to work (EU resident status).

Additional strengths:

  • Experience in designing, developing, and applying for project proposals and funding applications to diverse sources, including EC programs, national E+ and ESC agencies, UN education&democracy funds, and other private and institutional donors.
  • Experience in volunteering in debate programs.
  • Experience in working in debate programs.
  • Current work with national debate programs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and executing fundraising strategies and campaigns that align with the organization's mission and objectives, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and special events.
  • Researching and identifying potential grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources relevant to the organization's goals.
  • Preparing and submitting grant proposals, including writing narratives, developing budgets, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Coordinating and managing grant-making activities, including reviewing applications, conducting due diligence, and monitoring grantee performance.
  • Organizing and facilitating fundraising events, ensuring they meet the organization's standards for quality and effectiveness in raising funds.
  • Supporting organization members and volunteers in developing and executing their own fundraising and grant-making initiatives.
  • Traveling as necessary for grant and fundraising events, representing the organization professionally to donors, grantees, and partners.
  • Compiling and analyzing reports on fundraising and grant-making activities to assess their impact, inform future efforts, and ensure accountability to donors and stakeholders.
  • Actively promoting the organization's mission and projects to build and maintain a network of supporters, including individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness and collaboration of the team, demonstrating flexibility and a cooperative spirit in a dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success in grant making and/or fundraising activities.
  • Knowledge of EU grant making and fundraising environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and G-suite environment.
  • Excellent command of English language
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong commitment to IDEA's mission and values.
  • Legal eligibility to work (EU resident status).

Additional strengths:

  • Experience in cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding organizations to secure financial support.
  • Skill in analyzing financial data and budgeting for fundraising initiatives and grant proposals.
  • Knowledgeable about current trends in philanthropy and funding, with the ability to identify new opportunities for financial support.
  • Experience in volunteering in debate programs.
  • Experience in working in debate programs.
