Help South Sudan First Debate Team reach WSDC
IDEA is built on the idea that debate education thrives through cooperation, solidarity, and shared responsibility. Today, we again invite the IDEA community to turn these values into action.
Our member organisation Joint Debate Society (JDS) has just launched a fundraising campaign to send South Sudan's first-ever national team to the World Schools Debating Championship 2026 in Kenya.
In a country which has suffered from war, debate offers young people a space to think, speak and engage through dialogue. JDS has been building that space from the ground, and their debaters are now ready for the biggest debating event.
With WSDC 2026 hosted in neighbouring Kenya, the opportunity for JDS's participation has never been closer. JDS has secured partial scholarship funding from WSDC Ltd., but funding for the remaining costs is still needed. These include registration, travel, accommodation, and preparation for a team of five students, two coaches, and an administrator.
IDEA is proud to support JDS and encourages member organisations and the whole debate community to donate and help South Sudan get to WSDC.
