Help shape IDEA's next five years

If you have ever taken part in an IDEA activity, trained with us, volunteered, debated at one of our events, or simply followed what we do from a distance, we want to hear from you. Trainers, coaches, teachers, volunteers, debaters, alumni, newcomers: this questionnaire is for all of you.

It asks about your experience with IDEA, what you value, how you see your long-term place in the debate community, and what you would like us to do more (or less) of over the next five years. We are writing the next strategy for the people who actually show up, not just the people in the room when the decisions get made.

The questionnaire is 10 short questions plus a few optional details about you at the start. The whole thing takes about 6 to 8 minutes. There are no right answers, and every question has an opt-out. We are just as interested in hearing "I don't know yet" or "none of the above" as we are in strong opinions.

Your answers go directly to IDEA's board and will help decide what we invest in, what we change, and what we offer the community over the next five years. Individual responses stay anonymous. Only aggregated results and anonymised quotes will be shared.

The consultation is open until 15.04.2026. After that, we will publish a summary of what we heard and how it is shaping the strategy, so you can see your input reflected in the final plan.
