First outlines of our digital tools for sustainability education

Join us in evaluating outputs for digital tools of project "Empowering Youth Work for the Green Debate

Following two meetings, one in Croatia and the other in the Netherlands, our dedicated team is making significant strides in developing innovative digital tools aimed at enhancing environmental education and debate.

These tools, which include an e-learning course and an online platform, are designed to support youth workers, educators, and young people in engaging more deeply with climate and environmental issues through the lens of debate methodology.

This is also why we are inviting you to volunteer as beta testers of our e-learning content from August 2023 and digital platfomr from April 2024. All interested applicatns can email us at info@idebate.net.

E-Learning Course Development

The e-learning course we're crafting is tailored specifically for youth workers and educators who utilize non-formal education methods to engage with young people. This self-paced course is geared towards embedding climate and environmental discussions within debate frameworks, thereby fostering critical thinking and analytical skills among learners. The course is structured to bolster research, learning, and information-gathering competencies while equipping users to identify and counter misinformation related to climate topics.

A significant challenge we're addressing is creating content that resonates with educators from diverse backgrounds, ensuring the course is both accessible and engaging. Our aim is to empower youth workers to integrate more profound questioning and complex social issue discussions into their existing activities, enriching their educational repertoire with debate-based methodologies.

Online Platform for Green Debate

Simultaneously, we're in the process of developing an online platform that will serve as a cornerstone for supporting the green debate initiative. This platform is envisioned as a dynamic space where educators, youth workers, and young individuals can collaborate, share resources, and engage in meaningful discussions. The primary goal is to dismantle barriers to accessing essential educational tools and foster a robust network for learning and cooperation on a global scale.

The platform's design is focused on user-friendliness and the challenge lies in ensuring the platform's architecture supports seamless interaction while being scalable and secure. Another aspect we're keenly working on is the mentorship feature, which aims to connect less experienced members with seasoned educators for guidance and support. Moving this platform from the drawing board to digital space will be a huge challenge for us.

Moving Forward

As we navigate through the complexities of content creation and platform development, our team is committed to maintaining a clear focus on the project's core objectives. We're addressing challenges such as ensuring content relevance, user engagement, and technological robustness head-on, with a collaborative approach that leverages the diverse expertise of our team members. Danihs debate association and the Dutch Young Climate Movement who are partners on the project will soon join our deliberations as we start developing different case studies on environemnt related issues.

By the year's end, we anticipate showcasing the initial outcomes of our efforts, marking a significant milestone in our journey to empower the youth and educators with the tools necessary for informed and impactful environmental debate.

The journey is challenging, but the potential impact of these digital tools on environmental education and active citizenship makes every step worthwhile.
