This House would make the European Union a single country

The European Union  is an economic and political entity and confederation of 27 member states which are located primarily in Europe. The EU traces its origins from the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Economic Community, formed by six countries in 1951 and 1958 respectively. For the last forty years the European Union has been pursuing a large scale social project involving the integration and harmonisation of the bureaucracies and economic, social and foreign policies of Europe’s sovereign states. Under the motion that promotes EU as a single state, there are different types of interpretation. Making E.U. a supranational organisation/federation/single country is not an unheard suggestion. Theoretically there are a few examples of how E.U would become a supranational organisation. Globally, the E.U situation today, the problems which the organisations faces in itself and the problems related to its member states are making the leaders of the great four think that there are only two possibilities.

1. Breaking up the organisation ( which will lead to devastation of the economy of the smaller countries, or countries like Spain, Ireland and Greece which depend on the bigger countries)

2. Making a single country/supranational organisation ( like the example of The United States of Europe, a name given to several similar hypothetical scenarios of the unification of Europe, as a single country and a single federation of states, similar to the United States of America)

In a nutshell,  member states of the European Union do have many common policies within the European Union and on behalf of the EU that are sometimes suggestive of a single state. It has a common executive (the European Commission), a single High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, a common European Security and Defence Policy, a supreme court (European Court of Justice – but only in matters of European Union law), a peacekeeping force (Eurofor), and an intergovernmental research organisation (the EIRO forum with members like CERN). The euro is often referred to as the "single European currency". But on the other hand there are problems on the E.U. itself, issues that target both the member countries and the incapability of making a singular opinion at this moment. If a supranational organisation is created, not having a consensus will surely lead do failure, but than achieving consensus on question that include 27 different countries and all in all more than half a billion people is highly improbable.[1]
