Classroom Reboot: Resources for Engagement and Critical Skills
Classroom Reboot, a two-year project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, brings together six organisations from Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Slovenia, and the Netherlands with a shared goal: to make debate-based learning accessible to high school teachers across Europe.
The project aims to equip teachers with debate-based methodologies which they can use in the classroom, enhance students critical thinking and civic engagement, and expand access to quality educational resources, particularly in underserved areas.
What we're building
Over the course of the project, the partnership will develop three free educational resources:
-
A Structured Discussion Guide for teachers: a practical tool for facilitating debate-based discussions on controversial topics in class
-
A Debate-based Learning Resource Kit: a modular set of materials adaptable across different subjects
-
A Set of Student Assignments: debate exercises designed to build argumentation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
All materials will be freely available in four languages and specifically designed to be easy to implement with no prior debate training required.
Why it matters
We know from our work with teachers that the demand for this kind of material is real. A key priority is reaching schools in smaller towns and underserved areas, ensuring that quality educational resources don't stay concentrated in major cities.
Expected outcomes
- 255 teachers across five countries equipped with debate-based teaching materials
- Scalable, modular resources designed for integration into existing classroom curricula
- Stronger connections between debate organisations and schools across the EU
- Increased student engagement in critical thinking and democratic participation
