Black Girl’s Dream Initiative
The Black Girl's Dream Initiative (BGDI) is a non-governmental organisation committed to advancing SDGs 4 and 5 through youth development and education-focused initiatives.
Through its flagship programme, the Ibadan Schools’ Debate Competition,
now rebranded as the National Schools’ Debate Championship, the organisation equips
secondary school students with public speaking, critical thinking and research skills
while raising a new generation of confident leaders and changemakers.
Over the past five years, the initiative has trained 1,754 students across 88 secondary
schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, with the support of a dedicated network of
volunteer trainers who continue to drive its impact and reach.
