EUth Debate 2022: young students and the future of Europe
EUth Debate 2022 will take place on Saturday, 14th May 2022, in Milan, at IULM University. During the event, columnists and members of European institutions will participate in the Grand finale of the Italian Debate Youth Championship 2021-2022. The event, organized by Società Nazionale Debate Italia, received the patronage by the European Parliament and the European Commission. Main goal of the project is to explore and comment the motion’s theme with experts from the fields of politics and journalism, and then leave the floor to the finalists to find out who is going to be this edition’s winner.
The discussion and the following Debate will be focused on the question “should the four main European States (France, Germany, Italy and Spain) promote enhanced cooperation in the fields of foreign politics and common defense?”. To go in details of such an important matter, the audience will listen to experts such as the former Italian Prime Minister, Romano Prodi, and members of the European Parliament Pina Picierno, Antonio Tajani, Giuliano Pisapia and Fabio Massimo Castaldo. The panel and the competition will be host by well-known journalists, and the event will be live streamed on Ansa.it and Open.
EUth Debate 2022 represents the culmination of the Italian Debate Championship, an 8-months-long tournament in which about 450 high-school students took part in more than 270 debates, the majority of them discussing European values and policies. It is an opportunity for students not only to compete and win a national tournament, but also to go deep in the motion and show off their skills in an environment enriched by the presence of big personalities. Società Nazionale Debate Italia believes in Debate as a tool to learn -both in terms contents and every-day skills- and to participate; as a tool to become active and aware European citizens. Students are the future of Europe, and they are ready to show it!
