Adjudicator Training Program at WSDC 2024
We are excited to announce an opportunity for high school debate adjudicators within our network. We will be hosting an Adjudicator Training Program in conjunction with the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) 2024, taking place in Belgrade from July 16th to July 26th. With support from Erasmus+ youth accreditation operated by the Croatian Debate Society (CDS) and logistic support by Open Communication, the Program is designed to refine and enhance adjudication skills, focusing on the quality of feedback provided to debaters.
Participants of all experience levels are invited to apply. However, this program is mainly aimed at adjudicators who have demonstrated proficiency and commitment in their local or national high school debate communities but may have yet to have significant exposure to international debating events. This program represents a unique chance to engage with the global debate community, learn from various educators, and gain experience by adjudicating in the initial rounds of WSDC 2024.
The 10-day event will follow the traditional schedule of WSDC, and we expect applicants to be available to adjudicate every round throughout the tournament. This is particularly important as the rounds will form the main basis of the practical experience that will be used in training and feedback sessions. The successful applications are expected to co-finance their participation with a contribution of 50 EUR.
Application Process:
IDEA member organizations are invited to encourage individuals they believe could benefit from this programme. If you are interested in applying, please get in touch with the member organization active in your country. We intend to allocate at least one spot per member organization attending WSDC 2024 to ensure broad participation. One of the aims of the training program is to reinforce the quality of judging and feedback delivery in the region. As such we will prioritise participants from countries of former Yugoslavia in the allocation of additional spots.
The deadline for applications is 09.04.2024 at 23:59:59 CET (UTC+1). We will not be extending the deadline.
